Convocation Ceremony Notification – FUTA’s 33rd – The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in Nigeria has announced details of its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, which will take place from November 10-18, 2023.
In a statement issued by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji, the university notified parents, guardians, graduating students and the general public of the schedule of events for the week-long ceremony.

The ceremonies will kick off on Friday, November 10 with a press briefing at 10am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium, followed by the Juma’at prayers at 2pm at the FUTA Central Mosque in Obanla.
On Sunday, November 12, an interdenominational church service will be held at 10am at the Saint Albert Catholic Church in Obanla.
The highlight of the first week will be the Excellence and Productivity Awards Ceremony on Monday, November 13 at 3pm in the Babatunde Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall.

An exhibition will take place on Tuesday, November 14 starting at 9am at the Exhibition Ground near the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium. This will be followed by a career talk at 10am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium and a novelty football match at 2pm at the university’s sports complex.
The Convocation Meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 15 at 11am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium. The Alumni Lecture will hold at 2pm in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium, while the Alumni Dinner will take place at 5pm in the Babatunde Afen Adebayo Multipurpose Hall.
On Thursday, November 16, the Alumni Meeting will be at 10am in the T.I. Francis Auditorium. The Convocation Lecture titled “Knowledge and Research: The Foundation of Prosperous Economy” will be delivered by the Honourable Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani at 3pm in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium. The students’ variety show will round up the day’s events at 4pm at the university’s sports complex.
The ceremonies will continue on Friday, November 17, with the commissioning of projects across the university from 8am. This will be followed by the award of certificates, diplomas and first degrees at 10am in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium.

On the final day, Saturday November 18, more projects will be commissioned starting 8am. The award of postgraduate diplomas, masters degrees and doctorates will take place at 10am in the Obafemi Awolowo Auditorium. The ceremonies will be capped off with a luncheon at the Vice Chancellor’s Lodge.
The university has outlined some key information for parents, guardians, graduating students and members of the public planning to attend the ceremonies.
Only officials and invited guests with appropriate tags and invitation cards will be granted access to the venues. Vehicles without tags will be restricted on campus.
Graduating students are required to participate fully robed in academic regalia, which they must purchase in advance. They are also expected to pay for specially designed scrolls and the Order of Proceedings booklet.
PhD graduates must purchase designated gowns through the School of Postgraduate Studies. All graduating students must be seated by 8am on November 17 and 18 for the processions which start at 8:30am.
