ETSU Academic Calendar: Fall 2023

• August 28 – Classes Begin
• September 1 – Last day for Graduate Students to apply to graduate, submit committee forms, and submit doctoral candidacy forms for Spring 2024 graduation
• September 3 – Last Day to Register or Add Classes Without a Departmental Permit (Last Day to Register Through Goldlink)
• September 4 – Labor Day (University Closed)
• September 4 – Last Day to Change To/From Audit Grade
• September 4 – Last Day to Submit a Change of Major Request for the Current Term
• September 10 – Census
• September 10 – Last Day to Add Without Dean’s Permission
• September 10 – Last Day to Drop a Course Without a W Grade
• September 11 – Begin Late Add With Dean’s Permission Only
• September 11-18 – Required Attendance Reporting including online courses
• October 2-8 – Early Semester Progress Reporting (ESPR/Mid-Term Grades). The ESPR is only for Undergraduate Students.
• October 16-17 – Fall Break (No Classes)
• October 16 – Last Day to Drop a Course With a W Grade Without Dean’s Permission
  October 23 – Last day to submit the Notification of Oral Defense form to the Graduate School for December 2023 graduation. Form is required 10 days prior to defense date.
  November 6 – Last day to complete oral defense of thesis or dissertation for December 2023 graduation
  November 10 – Veterans Day (University Closed)
  November 13 – Deadline to upload committee-approved thesis or dissertation for December 2023 graduation
• November 22-24 – Thanksgiving Holiday (University Closed)
  December 6 – Last Day to Withdraw From the University (Including Dean Approved Late Drops) by 4:30pm Eastern Time

  December 8 – Last Day of Classes
  December 9-14 – Final Exams – Final Exam Schedule
  December 13 – Deadline for Dean approval of thesis or dissertation for December 2023 graduation
  December 16 – Commencement Ceremonies
  December 18 – All Grades Due by 4:30 pm

Winter Session 2023-2024:

• December 20 – Classes Begin
• December 19 – Last day to add a course (Online or in person) December 19 – Last day to receive a 100% refund
• December 22 – Last day to change a course to/from Audit Pass/Fail
• December 23 – Last day to receive a 75% refund
• December 26 – Last day to drop a course without a “W” grade
• December 26 – Last day to receive a 25% refund
• January 12 – Last day to withdraw

Spring Semester 2024:

• January 16 – Classes Begin
• January 22 – Last Day to Change To/From Audit Grade
• January 22 – Last Day to Register or Add Classes Without a Departmental Permit (Last Day to Register Through Goldlink)
