Georgia Tech’s standard Academic Calendar consists of a Fall Semester, a Spring Semester, and an accelerated Summer Session. Each Fall and Spring Semester typically consists of fifteen weeks of instruction followed by one week of final exams. A typical Summer Session has eleven weeks of instruction followed by one week of final exams. Each school year is divided into two semesters, one in the fall and one in the spring.

The term “term” refers to the Fall Semester, Spring Semester, or Summer Session. The Office of the Registrar is responsible for publishing the official Academic Calendar for every term. The Registrar uses discretion to set dates on the Academic Calendar, such as Fall Recess, the Last Day to Withdraw from Individual Courses without a Penalty, and the Progress Report Grade Due Date, due to yearly calendar variations and the need to balance the dates of campus events, particularly during the Fall Semester.
