GWU Academic Calendar – The George Washington University (GWU) was established in 1821 by an Act of Congress, fulfilling George Washington’s vision for a university in the nation’s capital. It was originally created as Columbian College with a focus on educating public servants and preparing leaders. Today, GWU has grown into a prominent research university based out of Washington D.C.
GWU is organized into 14 colleges and schools, allowing students to choose from over 275 academic programs. Areas of study include international affairs, political management, forensic science, medicine, engineering, law and more. Over 27,000 students from 130 countries study at GWU across three campuses.
