Netherlands Visa Application Requirements and Qualifications

Different countries often have different procedures and eligibility requirements for different types of visa applications (Study, Visit, Business or Work Visas). For instance, it is possible for you to be eligible for a Netherlands Transit Visa while being refused a Study, Work or Business visa based on same present condition. Below, we summarized some of the eligibility requirements for a Ukraine Work Visa.

The following are the general requirements for obtaining a Shengen visa
1. All candidates are required to completely and correctly fill an application form and submit it in person.
2. 2 recent good quality passport photographs (no photocopies). Distance between two ears must be 2cm.
3. Your passport and, if applicable, resident permit. Note that these documents are expected to remain valid for at least 3 months after the expiration date of the requested visa.

To obtain a tourist visa, the following are additional requirements:

3. A copy of the inviting party’s passport or resident permit.
4. If the inviting party is covering accommodation, you’re required to provide a copy of their bank statements for the last 3 months.

1. Tourist visa
2. Transit visa
3. Business visa

Netherlands Visa Application Process and Guide

Download the visa application form online by visiting the appropriate VFSGLOBAL websites.
2. Carefully fill in your particulars online and print out the hard copy.
3. State clearly in the declaration your reasons for choosing the Netherlands.
3. Signed the printout form and attach the following documents:

  1. Your International passport with at least 6 months validity and unused visa pages.
    2. Two recently taken passport sized photograph with white background.
    3. Photocopy of the data page of your passport.
    4. Health insurance certificate with a minimum of € 30,000 covering all the Schengen area.
    5. Proof of flight booking indicating the departure and arrival dates. (Do not purchase flight ticket before the issuance of your visa)
    6. Proof of hotel reservation or accommodation throughout your stay in Holland.
    7. Evidence of Basic travelling allowance sufficient to cover your entire stay in the Netherlands.
    8. Your bank account statement for the last 6 months duly endorsed by the Bank.
  2. An employee travelling on vacation should provide the following additional supporting documents:
    1. A letter of introduction from his employer
    2. His leave pass.
    3. His tax clearance certificate.
    4. His last pay slips.
    5. An identity card issued by his organisation.
  3. Additional requirements for applicant travelling on invitation
    1. A letter of invitation from the person inviting you.
    2. Photocopy of his identity card or international passport
    3. The person should indicate in his letter your relationship, how long you’re to stay in the Netherlands and if he is going to be responsible for your financial responsibility.
    4. Your tax clearance certificate.
  4. An under-age child travelling unaccompanied or with a parent or guardian:
    1. The parent or guardian is expected to sign the child’s visa application form.
    2. The child’s original birth certificate.
    3. A letter of consent from both parents.
    4. All the documents must be endorsed and sealed by a notary public.
  5. An applicant travelling for medical purpose:
    1. A medical appointment from a hospital in the Netherlands.
    2. An official letter stating that the Hospital is ready and capable of performing the medical treatment the applicant is searching for.
    3. A written report from your personal doctor in Nigeria explaining the reasons for urgent medical treatment in the Netherlands.
    4. Evidence of advanced payment for the treatment, accommodation and additional insurance coverage.
  6. Additional requirements for business visa:
    1. An original letter of invitation from the organization inviting you in the Netherlands.
    The letter should be written in the organisation letter headed paper stating the importance of your visit, how long you’re to stay in the Netherlands.
    2. Your partner should attach the photocopy of the organisation’s certificate of incorporation.
    3. Attach evidence of previous business dealings.
    4. The organisation’s bank account statement for the last 6 months. .
    5. Your personal income tax clearance.
    6. If the organisation is responsible for your accommodation, evidence of this must be provided.
  7. Additional requirements for Student visa.
    1. Original letter of admission or acceptance of offer from the College in the Netherlands.
    2. Evidence of payment of school fees (part payment or full payment)
    3. All documents used in processing the admission.
  8. Letter of sponsorship from your parent or guardian.
    5. Your parent’s bank account statement for the last 6 months.
    Other documents as may be demanded by the embassy.

  1. Ensure that the visa application form is duly signed and dated by you.
    2. Ensure that all the required documents you’re submitting are completed, up-to-date, and genuine.
    3. Pay the visa application processing fee plus other charges applicable at the visa application centre, and attach the payment acknowledgement slip.
    4. Submit yourself for biometric fingerprint at a section of the Visa application centre.
    5. Be prepare for visa interview if necessary.
    6. Ensure you use an active Email address, it is the only channel of communication between the embassy and you.
    7. Finally, submit your application well ahead of your travel to allow the embassy complete the visa processing without disappointment.

  • Submission of fraudulent documents.
