The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released 2020/2021 November /December External Senior School Certificate Examination results.

The National Examination Council

The National Examinations Council (also known as NECO) is an examination body in Nigeria that conducts the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination and the General Certificate in Education in June/July and November/December respectively. NECO was created by former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar in April 1999. It was the first Federal organization to offer subsidized registration to academic candidates in Nigeria. NECO was mandated to take over the responsibilities of the National Board of Education Measurement (NBEM). Its maiden examination took place in mid-2000. Nigeria offers six years of basic education, three years of junior secondary education, three years of senior secondary education, and four years of tertiary education. Mathematics and English language are compulsory though Mathematics may not be required for some courses in higher institutions.

1. Go to NECO result checking portal @ http://www.mynecoexams.com/results/default.aspx
2. Select your examination type i.e. Nov/Dec
3. Select your year of examination i.e. 2020/2021

5. Enter your examination number

NECO Result Checker Portal (result.neco.gov.ng).

The newly established NECO results online system (portal) provides users who participated in the examination, a convenient way to check all NECO examination results. Candidates should note that once results are released, it will be made available through the NECO Results system (www.result.neco.gov.ng).

Through the NECO result checking portal, candidates can easily check their SSCE, BECE and NCEE results by purchasing tokens. Note that the token(s) can be shared with candidates, parents, schools, organizations or any person who wished to view the candidate’s results.

However, candidates who participated in the NECO common entrance, do not need tokens to check their results.

NECO GCE Result Statistics 

According to him, a total of 41,459 candidates registered for the examination, while 39,503 took part in the exam. The registrar further explained that a total of 26,277 candidates obtained five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics while 34,014 candidates also obtained five credits and above irrespective of English Language and Mathematics.

Obioma further disclosed that the results of 256,000 candidates who missed some papers during the 2020 SSCE (Internal) due to the ENDSARS protests in some states and who sat for those papers during the 2020 SSCE (External) were being released along side those of external candidates today.

It was gathered that 6,465 cases of examination malpractice were recorded in the 2020 SSCE External as against 17,004 cases in 2019.
