Katsina State College of Nursing Sciences’ satellite campuses secure accreditation to offer ND Nursing – In a major development for nursing education in northern Nigeria, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval for the Malumfashi Satellite Campus of Nana Babajo College of Nursing Sciences to operate as a mono-technic institution.School News Portal

According to a statement released by the college management, the NBTE approval allows the Malumfashi campus to commence National Diploma (ND) nursing degree programs starting from the 2023/2024 academic year. This approval comes after a similar approval was granted to the main Katsina campus earlier.

With both campuses now operating as mono-technics offering ND nursing, the college says this expansion of academic programs will significantly enhance nursing education and provide more opportunities for students in the region seeking quality training.Katsina State College of Nursing Sciences

“This is a watershed moment for nursing and midwifery education in the country and a manifestation of the Provost’s vision of repositioning the college as a centre of excellence in Africa,” the statement noted.

In addition to the mono-technic upgrades, the management revealed that plans are also in motion to launch a Bachelor of Nursing Sciences degree program in Katsina through affiliation with a conventional university in the North West.

The milestone has been described as unprecedented for nursing education in Nigeria. Stakeholders say the elevated status and expanded academic programs will go a long way in enhancing skilled manpower development in healthcare.
