The NNPC-SNEPCo National University Scholarship program was introduced in 1992 to develop indigenous capacity in petroleum engineering and geosciences. Over 300 recipients graduate yearly across several universities under the scheme. The program aligns with the Federal Government’s goal of developing local content in the oil and gas sector.

SNEPCo is a subsidiary of Shell Nigeria which operates the Bonga deep offshore oil field under a production sharing contract with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company.
