Oxford MBA:

The Oxford MBA starts on the 23rd of December 2019 and is a one year program with full time to study as a student. You need to submit your online application form and application requirements by your chosen application deadline for the 2019-20 class:

Saïd Business School Entry Requirements

Academic

You must upload all your University degrees academic transcripts/mark-sheets to the online application form. These must show the subjects studied or grades obtained from each academic year. If invited to an interview or you are made an offer to join the programme, you will need to provide official copies of your transcripts.

Financial Economics pathway

You should have at least a 2.1/3.5 GPA or equivalent in an undergraduate degree.

Management Research pathway

For this pathway, the most successful applicants typically have a distinction in a Master’s level degree in addition to their undergraduate studies.

We look for a high level of quantitative and analytical skills evidenced in the GMAT or GRE results. Contact GMAC/ETS directly to arrange to take the test.

  • Both quantitative and verbal scores should be in the 80th percentile.
  • All sections of the GMAT/GRE must be taken to be considered valid.
  • Official scores must be accessible by our admissions department. For GMAC to release your official scores give your test centre this code: Q0G-4B-45. For your GRE scores give your test centre this code: 0807.
  • GMAT/GRE scores are not valid if they are older than five years on the application deadline date.

English test

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Test Scheme (IELTS) must be taken, and all minimum scores met if you are not from a majority English speaking country, as defined by the UK Visas and Immigration Office*:

Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, UK, Ireland, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Belize, Guyana.

Waivers for the English language test

Either

Successfully completed a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognised institution, where the medium of instruction and assessment was entirely in English.

Evidence must be provided by either:

  • Uploading to the application form transcripts from your institution, which clearly indicates that the medium of instruction throughout your course was English OR
  • Uploading to the application form an official letter from your institution stating that the medium of instruction throughout your course was English.

Or

Successfully completed a degree in a majority English speaking country as defined by UK Visas and Immigration (listed above*).

We will review the transcripts you upload to the application form.

TOEFL iBT

Further information

Written work

You will need to upload three pieces of writing:

1. A research proposal: The research proposal provides an outline of your research plans and is intended to demonstrate your ability to pursue a research-oriented academic career. The proposal should specify your intended research questions and locate them in relevant academic literature. It should outline research methods suitable to addressing your research questions and explain how they would advance knowledge in the field. Please begin your research proposal with a clear title. Max. 2,000 words.

2. A previous piece of written work such as an essay or section of a longer piece of work on a topic appropriate to the degree for which you are applying. Or a second research proposal should you have a secondary research interest. Max. 2,000 words.

3. A personal statement. This should explain why you want to do a DPhil, why you want to study at Oxford, the field of your research interests, your preferred supervisor(s) and your post-DPhil plans. Max. 1,500 words.

References

Three academic references must be submitted via the online application form.

If you are in the process of completing a degree programme, one reference should be from your current institution.

Saïd Business School Application Requirements

Undergraduate degree

You will be asked to upload all your university degree academic transcripts/mark-sheets to the online application form.

GMAT

We don’t ask for a minimum score, but GMAT scores of 650 or above are considered competitive. Our current class has a median GMAT score of 690.

  • Official online scores must be accessible by our admissions department for your application to be considered complete. For GMAC to release your official scores to Saïd Business School, please give your test centre the following code: Q0G-4B-59
  • GMAT scores are not valid if they are older than five years on the application deadline date
  • Contact GMAC directly to arrange to take the test

GRE

A GRE verbal score of 160 and a quantitative score of 161 is considered competitive, however we do accept all scores.

  • All sections of the GRE must be taken in order to be considered valid
  • Official online scores must be accessible by our admissions department for your application to be considered complete. For ETS to release your official scores to Saïd Business School, please give your test centre the following institution code: 0807
  • GRE scores are not valid if they are older than five years on the application deadline date
  • Contact ETS directly to arrange to take the test

Please note you must submit either a GMAT or GRE score result with your application, regardless of your previous work experience, studies, or qualifications. 

Written work

As part of your application, you will need to submit two mandatory essays:

  • Consider a statistic or trend that shocks you. Why it is important to you and how could it be changed for the better? (Maximum 500 words)
  • Is there anything not covered in the application form which you would like the Admissions Committee to know about you? (Maximum 250 words)

If you are applying under the 1+1 scheme you also need to submit the following essay:

  •  Explain why you see this as particularly beneficial for you and how it fits with your career and personal development aims. (Maximum 250 words)

Re-applicants will need to submit an additional essay as below:

  • What improvements have you made in your candidacy since you last applied to the Oxford MBA? (Maximum 250 words)

When reviewing your essays, the admissions committee will be looking for evidence of the following: good communication skills, leadership potential, analytical skills, fit with the Oxford MBA community, among other characteristics.

References

We require two professional or academic references.

Using the online application form you will need to submit two references, preferably from professional referees. Once your referee details are input into the form, your referee will receive an automatic email from the School with details on how to complete the online reference form. Please note we can only accept references from a valid work/professional/institutional email address and not from Gmail/Hotmail accounts.

English language capability

You will need to prove your English language capability through one of the below means if you are a national of a non-majority English speaking country (listed below) as defined by the UK Visas & Immigration Office*.

Completed degree-level course entirely in English

Proof of English language proficiency may be accepted at the discretion of the University, in cases where you have either:

  • Successfully completed a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognised institution, where the medium of instruction and assessment was entirely in English.
