South Carolina State University (often referred to as SCSU or SC State) is a four-year historically black public college located in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Fall 2023

  • August 3 – Period to file for May 2024 Graduation begins
  • August 3 – Deadline to pay all tuition/fees and Validate Enrollment for Fall 2023 Semester
  • August 9-10 – Freshmen/New Student Move-In Days
  • August 9-13 – Mandatory New Student Orientation
  • August 14-15 – Returning Students – Move-in Days
  • August 15 – General Assembly – College/Departmental Meetings
  • August 16 – Faculty Workshops
  • August 17 – Classes begin. Drop/Adds begin.
  • August 30 – Add/Drop ends.
  • August 30 – Financial Aid Enrollment Freeze Day
  • August 31-September 21 – A grade of “W” is awarded for a withdrawal from a course. Tuition charges are incurred.
  • August 31 – Last day to apply for December 2023 graduation
  • September 4 – Labor Day Holiday-NO CLASSES
  • September 5 – Classes Resume. No change in Pass-Fail after this date.
  • September 7 – Fall Convocation
  • September 22-October 30 – A grade of “W” or “WP” will be awarded if withdrawn
  • September 28- October 5 – Submit Senior Exit Survey
  • September 30 – Deadline to Enroll in or Waive Health Insurance
  • October 9 – Course Selection, Alternate PIN and Registration begin for Spring 2024
  • October 14- October 18 – Mid-Term Examinations
  • October 21 – Subject Matter Comprehensive Examination for Graduate Students
  • October 23 – Mid-Term Grades posted by Faculty via WEB
  • October 28 – Professional Comprehensive Examination for Graduate Students
  • October 31 – A grade of “WF” will be awarded for course or University if withdrawn on or after this date
  • October 31 – May Graduation 2024 Late Fee Begins
  • November 2-16 – Student Evaluation of Instructors
  • November 4 – Homecoming
  • November 9 – Veterans Appreciation Day Program
  • November 19-26 – Thanksgiving Holidays – no Classes
  • November 27 – Classes Resume
  • December 2 – Last Day of Classes
  • December 4-5 – Final Examination Period for Graduating Seniors Only
  • December 4-11 – Final Examination Period for all students
  • December 6 – Final Grades posted by Faculty for GRADUATES Via WEB
  • December 11 – Final Grades posted by Faculty for NON-GRADUATES Via WEB
  • December 12 – Non-Graduating Students move out of Residence Halls
  • December 15 – Fall/Winter Commencement
  • December 15 – Move-out day for students in Residence Halls

Spring 2024

  • January 10 – Deadline to pay all tuition/fees and Validate Enrollment for Spring 2024 Semester by 5 PM. Class Schedules, Meal Plans and House Assignments will be dropped after 5 PM for students who have not paid Tuition and Fees or made payment arrangements and Validated Enrollment.
  • January 10  – $200.00 Late Registration Fee is charged if registration is not completed by this date.
  • January 11 – General Assembly – College/Departmental Meetings.
  • January 11 – Freshmen/New Students Move-In Day.
  • January 11-14 – New Student Orientation. (Mandatory)
  • January 12  – Faculty Workshops.
  • January 12  – Residence Halls open for ALL RETURNING STUDENTS at 9:00 a.m.
  • January 15 – HOLIDAY-Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. (No Classes)
  • January 17 – Classes begin.
  • January 17  – Add/Drop begins $200.00 – Late Registration Fee for all students.
  • January 30 – Add/Drop Ends. No change in audit after this date.
  • January 30 – Financial Aid Enrollment Freeze Day-determines a student’s enrollment status for awarding financial aid. Financial Aid freeze dates are dates when enrollment hours are frozen or locked for financial aid purposes.
  • January 30-February 16 – Period to file for July and December 2024 Graduation. (Graduation Fee-$100)
  • January 31 – Deadline to Enroll in or Waive Health Insurance.
  • January 31-February 14 – A grade of “W” is awarded for a withdrawal from a course. Tuition charges are incurred during this period.
  • February 8 – ORANGEBURG MASSACRE COMMEMORATION.
  • February 9 – Last date to apply for May 2024 graduation. (Late Graduation Fee-$125)
  • February 15 – March 14 – A grade of “W” or “WP” will be awarded if withdrawn during this period.
  • February 16 – Last day to submit grade changes for Fall Term.
  • February 19  – Late graduation fee begins for all July 2024 and December 2024 applicants. (Graduation Fee- $150)
  • March 3 – Founders’ Day.
  • March 6-March 9  – Mid-Term Examinations.
  • March 10-March 17 – SPRING VACATION. (Students Only)
  • March 15  – A grade of “WF” will be awarded for course or University withdrawals after this date.
  • March 18 – Classes Resume.
  • March 18 – Mid-Term Grades posted by Faculty Via WEB.
  • March 19  – Early Advisement and Registration begins for Summer and Fall 2024 semesters.
  • March 23 – Professional Comprehensive Examination for Graduate Students.
  • March 30 – Subject-Matter Comprehensive Examination for Graduate Students.
  • April 2  – Honors and Awards Convocation.
  • April 15-19  – Student Evaluation of Instructors.
  • April 30 – Last Day of Classes.
  • May 1-2 – Final Exam Period for Graduating Students.
  • May 1-May 6 – Final Examination Period for all students.
  • May 3 – Faculty post final grades for Graduating Students by 2 pm.
  • May 7 – Non-Graduating Students move out of Residence Halls by 12 noon.
  • May 10 – Commencement Convocation.
  • May 11  – Students move out of Residence Halls by 12 noon.
  • May 13 – Faculty post final grade by noon for all students.
