Fall 2023
- August 8 – Bookstore Voucher Begins
- August 14 – Paid First Year Student Move-In, Dining Hall Opens, Faculty Report, Deadline for Paying Tuition and Fees “Complete Enrollment”
- August 15 – Paid First Year Student Move-In
- August 17 – Paid Returning Students Move-In
- August 21 – Classes Begin, Late Fees Begin, Non-Payment Purge extended to Thursday, September 7th
- September 4 – Labor Day (Holiday)
- September 5 – Classes Resume, Late Fall 2023 Graduation Applications Due, Spring 2024 Graduation Applications Due
- September 8 – Final Day to ADD Classes for Credit, Final Day to DROP Classes Without Receiving “W”
- September 11 – Mandatory Attendance Reporting Due (No Show/Show) (Students who do not report to classes during this period will have their classes removed and financial aid reduced or canceled.)
- September 12 – Financial Aid Disbursements
- October 5-6 – Fall Holiday Break
- October 9 – Classes Resume
- October 25 – Midterm Grades are Due
- October 28 – Last Day to Withdraw from Courses or University
- October 17-23 – Midterm Exams
- November 6 – Spring 2024 Priority Registration Begins, Student Athletes, Honors College, 0-60 Credit Hour, Band, ROTC
- November 13 – Spring 2024 Registration, All Students
- November 22-24 – Thanksgiving Break
- November 23-24 – University Closed
- November 27 – Classes Resume
- December 1 – Last Day of Classes
- December 4-8 – Final Examinations, Final Exam Schedule, Non-Graduating Students Depart Housing
- December 11 – Final Grades Due (Degree candidate)
- December 12 – Final Grades Due (Non-degree candidate)
- December 15 – Fall 2023 Commencement, Graduating Students Depart Housing by 5pm
Spring 2024
- January 9 – New Students Housing Move-In Day at 1:00pm and Dining Halls Open, Tuition & Fees must be paid in full prior to move in, Bookstore Vouchers (January 3-24), One Stop Shop Opens in the Student Union
- January 10 – Orientation for New Students (First Semester, Southern University at Shreveport Louisiana, and First-Time Transfer)
- January 11 – Faculty Report, Convocation, Deadline for Paying Tuition and Fees
- January 12 – Returning Students Housing Move-In Day, Tuition & Fees must be paid in full prior to move in
- January 15 – Martin Luther King Holiday
- January 16 – Classes Begin, Mandatory Attendance Reporting Period (No Show/Show) begins through January 31, Students who do not attend classes during this period will have their classes removed and financial aid cancelled or reduced, Last day to register for Spring 2024, 2nd Priority Payment Due Date by 5:00pm, Non-Payment Purge, All non-paid students will be removed from their courses, Late Fee Begins ($100)
- January 26 – Late Spring 2024 Graduation Applications Due, Summer 2024 and Fall 2024 Graduation Applications Due
- January 29 – Non-Payment Purge, All non-paid students will be removed from their courses
- January 31 – Mandatory Attendance Reporting Period (No Show/Show) Deadline, Students who do not attend classes during this period will have their classes removed and financial aid cancelled or reduced
- February 2 – Final day for dropping courses without receiving a grade of a “W”, Final day for adding courses and making section changes
- February 6 – Financial Aid Disbursement
- February 12-13 – Mardi Gras Holiday
- February 14 – Classes Resume
- February 21 – Career Fair, Career Exploration Day
- March 7 – Founder’s Day Convocation, In Observance of Founder’s Day, all classes will meet in the FG Clark Activity Center

- May 1 – Last Day to Apply for Housing (Summer 2024 and Fall 2024), Last Day to Apply for Fall 2024 Admissions

- April 29 – May 3 – Final Examinations for Graduating Students, Summative Assessment
