TSU Academic Calendar 2023-2024

TSU Academic Calendar –  Tennessee State University is a historic black public land-grant university in Nashville, established in 1912. Originally called the Tennessee Agricultural & Industrial State Normal School for Negroes, it was renamed Tennessee Agricultural & Industrial State College in 1927. Tennessee State University currently offers over 60 degree programmes across eight schools and colleges and is regarded as a premier research institution.

TSU Academic Calendar: Fall Semester 2023

  • August 11 – Faculty contracts begin -Faculty report for fall semester activities
  • August 14-16 – Faculty/Staff Institute -Residence Halls Open (New Students)
  • August 16-18 – Freshmen Welcome Week
  • August 18 – Residence Halls Open (Returning Students)
  • August 21  – Classes Begin
  • August 21-25 – Late Registration/Schedule Adjustment
  • September 4 – Labor Day Holiday – No classes
  • September 18 – Campus Wide Assembly – First Year Students 9:00 am – Kean Hall -Recognition of Constitution Day
  • October 2-6 – Mid-term Examination Week
  • October 8-14 – Homecoming Week
  • October 16-17 – Fall Break
  • October 25 – January 12 – Registration for Spring 2024
  • October 27 – Last day to withdraw from a course and/or the University
  • November 10 – Veterans’ Day Observed (University is Open)
  • November 22 – No Classes
  • November 23-24 – Thanksgiving Holiday – University Closed
  • December 1 – Last Day of Classes
  • December 4-8 – Final Examinations
  • December 9 – Commencement – Graduate and Undergraduate-Gentry Center
    December 13 – Faculty must have posted all grades via “MyTSU”
  • December 18 – Records Office releases all posted grades via “MyTSU”
  • December 22 – January 1– Holiday Break – University Closed

  • January 2 – University Re-opens-8:00 am
  • January 1-5 – Xtreme Winter Break-Session I (online only)
  • January 8 – 12 – Xtreme Winter Break-Session II (online & in-person)
  • January 8 – Faculty/Staff Institute
  • January 10 – Residence Halls open (New Students)
  • January 10 – Freshman Orientation
  • January 12 – Residence Halls Open (Returning Students)
  • January 15 – MLK Holiday – No Classes
  • January 16 – Classes Begin
  • January 16 – 22 – Late Registration/Schedule Adjustments
  • February 19 – 23 – Student Study Week – No Activities Scheduled
  • February 26 – March 2 – Mid-term Examination Week-all classes meet as scheduled
  • March 4 – 8 – Spring Break
  • March 4 – 8 – Xtreme Spring Break

  • March 19 – Honors Convocation – 9:45 a.m.
  • March 26 – April 27 – Registration for Summer 2024

  • April 22 – 26 – Student Study Week – No Activities Scheduled
  • April 25 – Last day of class
  • April 29 – May 2 – Final examinations
  • May 3 (Friday) – Graduate Commencement Ceremony, 5:00 p.m., Gentry Stadium
  • May 4 (Saturday) – Undergraduate Commencement Ceremony – 8:00 a.m., Hale Stadium
  • May 8 – Faculty must have posted all grades via “MyTSU”
  • May 13 – Records Office releases all posted grades via “MyTSU”

Maymester

  • March 12 – May 4 –  Registration
  • May 6 – Classes begin for 3-week session
  • May 12 – Last day to withdraw from courses
  • May 24 – Last day of classes
  • May 27 – Memorial Holiday – No Classes
  • May 28 – Faculty must have posted grades via “myTSU”
    All grades will be available when all summer sessions are completed

Full – 10 Week Session

  • March 26 – May 31 – Registration-All Summer Sessions
  • May 24 – Residence Halls open
  • May 28 – Classes begin for full 10-week session
  • May 28 – June 7 – Late registration/Schedule Adjustments
  • June 19 – Juneteenth Holiday Observed
  • June 19 – Founders Day Program (Location: TBA)
  • July 4 – Independence Day Holiday – No Classes
  • July 8 – Last day to withdraw from 10-week courses
  • July 8 – Last day to withdraw from University
  • August 2 – Last day of classes
  • August 6 – Faculty must have posted all grades via “MyTSU”
  • August 9 – Records Office releases all posted grades via “MyTSU”

Session I — Five Week Session

  • May 28 – Classes begin
  • May 28 – June 3 – Late registration/Drop/Add for Summer I
  • June 19 – Juneteenth Holiday Observed
  • June 21 – Last day to withdraw from First-session courses
  • June 21 – Last day to withdraw from University
  • June 28 – Last day of classes
  • July 2 – Faculty must have posted all grades via “MyTSU
  • August 9 – Records Office releases all posted grades via “MyTSU”

Session II — Five Week Session

  • July 1 – Classes begin
  • July 1 – July 3 – Late registration/Drop/Add for Summer II
  • July 4 – Independence Day Holiday – No Classes
  • July 19 – Last day to withdraw from Second-session courses
  • July 21 –  Last day to withdraw from University
  • August 2 – Last day of classes
  • August 6 – Faculty must have posted all grades via “MyTSU”
  • August 9 – Records Office releases all posted via “MyTSU”
