NYC DOE Academic Calendar 2023-2024

NYC Doe Academic Calendar – This 2023–24 academic calendar applies to all New York City Department of Education (NYCDOE) public schools serving grades 3K-12. It outlines important dates and holidays for the school year lasting from September 2023 through June 2024. If your child attends a private, charter, parochial school, Early Education Center or family childcare program, please contact them directly for details on their calendar.

There are a few key things to note about the NYCDOE calendar. First, on days when school buildings are closed due to inclement weather or emergencies, remote learning will take place to continue student instruction. Second, while this calendar shows system-wide parent-teacher conference dates, individual schools may have specific days that differ. Teachers will coordinate with parents directly to schedule conferences.

Finally, this calendar defines school programs by grade level. Elementary schools include 3K, Pre-K and serve grades kindergarten through 8th, including some schools ending at 5th grade. Middle schools serve grades 6-8 and high schools serve grades 9-12. The calendar outlines important events, testing, vacations, holidays and attendance requirements for all NYC public elementary, middle and high school students.
